Cinema Comic Storytelling at SHITA-COME-tei: “It’s a Wonderful Life”

Program

A classic Western film is set to the Edo, Meiji, Taisho, and the early Showa periods and its story is told with crucial comic storytelling (rakugo) characters such as Hattsan, the retired Goinkyosan, Yotaro, Gonsuke, and the male geisha Ippachi. A film is masterfully reimagined through comic storytelling with a narrative stunt at the end. The screening of Shiraku Tatekawa’s famous piece “Cinema Comic Storytelling” will debut at SHITA COME!
