Program

The year 2016 marks the 60th anniversary of the beginning of voice-overs in Japan. We will present a special revival screening of “Murder by Death” (TV dub ver, in 1981) that is well known as one of the best voice-over films in the TV western movie theater’s history. Voice over actors, such as Asao Koike for Peter Falk, Tadashi Nakamura for David Niven, and Michio Hazama for Peter Sellers, and other amazing voice actors such as Kazue Takahashi, Junpei Takiguchi and Kenji Utsumi come together in this film.. The great dubbed version representing the golden age of the western movie theater will appear on the screen for the first time.

Billionaire Lionel Twain invites five famous detectives to his mansion. The names of detectives are Monsieur Perrier, Wang, Dick, Sam Diamond and Jessica Marbles. Twain challenges the guests to solve a murder which will take place at midnight; a reward of $1 million will be presented to the winner. The detectives fuss around in the mansion full of tricks. Eventually midnight comes, Eventually midnight comes, and the murder doesn’t happen. Twain appears in front of the detectives but he’s already dead, stabbed in the back. It turns out that each of the five detectives has their possible motives for murdering Twain.
