The latest work of Shinpei Hayashiya, who shot a series of monster films of the Heisei period, such as The Deep-Sea Monster vs the Battleship Yamato. This work was filmed at four story-telling theaters in Tokyo, thanks to the first ever full support of the Rakugo Kyokai. A rakugo film with the real heart and drive of rakugo, created based on the real life episodes of rakugo storyteller Shinpei Hayashiya. The cast are comprised of actual professionals and the props are those actually used in performances. This indeed is a “true masterpiece” of rakugo films!

STORY
Masato Haruki gets fascinated with some rakugo (comic storytelling) he heard one day at a storyteller’s performance. He then becomes apprenticed to a shinuchi (star performer), Master Koroku Imadoya, a board member of the Rakugo Master Association. As a new trainee, he is given the name “Koharu” and successfully advances to a zenza (opening act performer). Koharu finds himself busy as an opening act performer and with Master Koroku and his wife, Aoi, but one day, an unprecedented shocking incident finds its way to Koharu,,
