The SHITA COME Grand Prize for the Short Film Competition that started last year and is loved by many will return again this year! We will screen the top ten most nominated works from the preliminary round, all comedy works of under 20 minutes. The word “comedy” can be interpreted in so many different ways, but it is stylishly portrayed in these works, each having its original kind of humor. Which films will win the Grand Prize, and the Audience Award determined by the audience at the venue? Don’t miss it! We will also be screening the avant-title of the film festival trailer by Director Yutaro Sawada, last year’s Grand Prize winner, and a work specially recommended by Seiko Ito, MARIKO ROSE THE SPOOK, directed by Devi Kabayashi. Come and be the first to check out some yet to be discovered talent! Join us in finding upcoming directors who will lead the future comedy film world at SHITA COME!

CHU-GAKUSEI

A planet far from Earth called “Chu-gakusei.” All its inhabitants are junior
high students dressed in a tight full-body suit! A collection of fast-paced
10-second comedy film clips depicting the days on this planet.

Chobo is an all-too-typical businessman with no real talent, except that he can

A work depicting the ludicrous nature of the people at a bar, focusing on two
couples who scrutinize others while ignoring their own flaws. The dialogues
between the men and women draw out laughter and sympathy from the audience.
MY FIRST LOVER

Ryusuke Hashimoto (age 30) never had luck with women, but he tries to pick up
a girl for the first time after downing a few glasses of booze for some dutch
courage. When he wakes up the next day, however, he finds himself in a room
with a lady named Kume Yanagida… age 65.
MOUNTAIN

After graduating from high school, Yamaguchi completes his special “final ritual”
with the help of his friend Tetsuro and leaves confine himself on a mountain.
Left behind, Tetsuro starts working but gets fired, and soon follows Yamaguchi
to the mountain, having nowhere else to go.
